St. Louis Leaders Challenged to Go Car-Free for One Day

Updated: Mar 19, 2023

Evie Hemphill, an STL community member and BWorks staffer, challenged more than 45 local leaders to go car-free for one day. The challenge is as follows:

Will you commit to getting around our region without a car for *one single day* sometime this month — and sharing publicly what your experience was like and any ways in which it affects your thinking about traffic violence and the rights of children, and all people, to move around safely in their community?

So far, 15 leaders have accepted the challenge, including two who volunteered without prompting: Michael Browning, a candidate for the new 9th Ward, and Webster Groves Mayor Laura Arnold. Follow the challenge on Evie's blog or Twitter.
