In the summer of 2020, the Board of Aldermen approved legislation that updates the way construction sites need to provide access for people walking, biking, and rolling along blocked sidewalks. This ordinance addresses workzone mobility, which means how people get around in construction areas, adjusting the fees for blocking a street and also requiring justification for closing a sidewalk. Applicants for permits have to support people of all types of mobility to go through or around a workzone without unnecessary delays. Read more about this ordinance here.
