Board Bill 155 (BB 155) was passed on April 19th, 2021.
WHAT does this bill do?
This bill established a maximum speed limit of 20 miles per hour (mph) for all traffic in five districts.
WHY is this important?
Studies show "that a pedestrian has a 40% chance of dying or sustaining a serious injury if hit by a vehicle traveling 30 mph, according to a St. Louis Park city staff report. The pedestrian has a 25% chance of dying if the vehicle is traveling 25 mph and a 13% chance of dying if struck at 20 mph."
BB 155 was enforced on May 21st, 2021. This means that if you are traveling in one of the five districts impacted, look out for the new speed limit.
